All for nada...

Well that was just no fun...
totally a rip off!!
Like i said before, i was picked for jury duty.
The trial was supposed to be yesterday.
So i drive all the way there, park, and go up and make myself comfy on the nice, padded, swively chairs.
Well, we're sitting there and sitting there waiting for everything to start, and nothing.
After about 45min, a gentleman comes in and says we can have a 15min break to use the bathrooms and get a drink.
Then we come back...and sit some more!!
30 more min!
Then the same gentleman came back and gave us another 10min break.
I'm definately getting worried at this point.
But when we got back, the defense attorney brought back in a huge stack of paperwork.
"This is it!" i thought.
Then a whole bunch of witnesses for the prosecution came in, and the defendants girlfriend too.
"We are really having a trial!" I thought.
Then the judge comes in.
But wait...where is the prosecutor, and where is the defendant?
Yea...not coming.
The judge says "I regretfully have to tell you that your trial won't be happening after all, and you are all dismissed."
WHAT THE HELL!!
He told us that the main witness for the prosection is someone that is now in state prison.
He had given a written statement that named the defendant in the case and said everything, basically.
Well as of the night before the trial, the witness refused to testify.
The judge said he could allow the trial to go on, and then the defense could motion to dis-allow the written statement to be heard as evidence because they wouldn't have a chance to cross examine the witness, therefore making the written statement null and void.
Great!
So while we had been sitting all morning, they had hauled the prisoner all the way down to the courthouse and into the judges chambers, and they were trying to make him testify under oath.
He refused and refused, so they held him in contempt of court and now HE has to go on trial.
Someone definately got to him...definately.
So we were all dismissed.
And i feel very very ripped off!!
But on a brighter note, i DID get the chance to go shopping, and i got the girls their easter dresses, some cardigans to go over them, and a bunch of things to fill their easter baskets with.
So overall i guess it wasn't that bad of a day.
But i vow this...i will be a juror one day...and i will get to deliberate!!

Just plain yay!!

So i'm so excited!
Em went on the potty for the first time EVER today!
I mean, it's not like she went over and pulled down her diaper and went on her own, but still!
I was getting her out of the tub, and like every time she takes a bath, she has to pee afterwards...unfortunately, if you don't get a diaper on her quick, it usually ends up all over the floor, but that's another rant all on it's own.
So i got her out of the tub, and i said to her "Do you have to pee?"
At first she said no, but i asked her one more time, and she said "Yes".
Alright!!
So i sat her on the potty, and nothing.
I definately thought she was just joking around, but i let her sit for a minute...
and then it happened.
I was so happy!!
Happy enough to blog about it here for you all to read!! Oh, by the way, sorry you had to read about our latest potty exploits, hehehe.
I definately don't expect this to be an everyday thing,
but we could FINALLY be well on our way to potty training!!

With the 3rd selection in the 2013 juror draft goes too...

Me!
That's right, i got picked!
I can't talk much about it right now, but i can say that i made it :)
This was my first ever jury selection...
And it didn't take long for them to see that i was a perfect fit for them...ha!
So i'm pleased to say that i get to go back again next week for my jury trial!
I am so excited!!
I know, i'm probably the only one that's ever been excited for this and all...
but you can sign me up for this trial stuff all the time!!

Mother of the Year right here...

Bad parenting moment #154:
When your child pukes, and you just spray them with Febreeze and go on with your day.

I know, right! I mean, i guess what happened isn't quite as bad as i make it sound. Well, maybe it is. I don't know. I do know that i wont be up for Mother of the Year anytime soon, ha!

We were out and about today, on our weekly thursday errands.
We recycle, we go to lunch, we go grocery shopping, we go to the bank, we go to the post office, then we go to daycare/work.
Typical day, i was lead to believe.
Well, we were at lunch at Burger King, the same place we go every thursday.
We are such regulars that they know us by name and we don't even have to order, they know what we're getting! (this, by the way, is bad parenting moment #113...letting your kids eat fast food every thursday for lunch).
Anyway, Mady ate her usual 4 chicken nuggets, and she decided that she was still hungry (this happens every now and then). So i went up to get her 4 more nuggets.
Well, i guess while i was away, Em decided to throw up some of the half of hamburger she had jammed in her mouth.
I never noticed, Mady never told me, so we went about our usual routine.
We get to WalMart, and we made it all the way around to the diaper section, and i started smelling something a bit funny.
I just ignored it, thinking it was something else, and went about shopping.
Well, we get to the deli counter, and i am still smelling it.
So while the lady is slicing our cheese, i happen to look down at Em and see that she has something on her shirt. Nothing big, just a small spot.
Well, i got out a wipe to wipe it off, and i noticed another spot on her sleeve, and one on her pants. That's 3 spots that i some how managed to miss this whole time.
After cleaning her up, she still smelled pretty funky.
You would think she was covered in puke or something by the way she smelled, not just 3 tiny spots.
So here is where the Mommy of the Year part comes in.
We make our way over to the air freshener isle, and i find the febreeze.
I proceed to spray her with said febreeze (by the way, it's the new Kiwi one and it smells really good).
I put the bottle in the cart, since i liked the smell so much, and we went about our shopping like nothing happened.
She didn't smell gross anymore, and the spots were cleaned up! (See how i'm trying to rationalize that this isn't as bad as it seems?!)
Don't judge me people!

Gotta have some new gear...

So we went out shopping today to get Mady a glove for tball.
Not only did we find a really cute pink and black glove for her to use...
but i found her an even cuter pair of soccer cleats for the fall when she FINALLY gets to play soccer (like she's been dying to play since last year).
AND...the cleats were on sale for 75% off!!

Princess sisters...

Mady got a brand new Strawberry Shortcake dress,
but she still insists that she is a princess.
So now she is Princess Strawberry.
And of course, Em won't give up her Snow White dress for anything in the world.
This is every. single. day people!!

So proud of myself...

I like to try new things with Mady's hair.
She is like my living Barbie doll!
But i'm especially proud of this hair style.
I can't take credit for coming up with it myself,
but i only saw a picture similar to this one and i figured out how to do it all on my own.
Just thought i'd share with you all!

Time sure does fly...

Isn't that the truth.
I never believed it until it happened to me.
But time really does just fly by!
Tuesday we signed Mady up for Pre-K.
My baby! Well, i guess she's not much of a baby anymore.
Now i know what some of you are thinking,
she's already 4, shouldn't she be going to Kindergarden next year.
But since her birthday is after the cutoff date here in PA, she won't make it for Kindergarden until 2014.
So Pre-K it is!
And she'll be going to our local catholic school too, so she'll be able to get some of the religious work that we both agree will be very good for her in the long run.
Registering her was really easy.
The application was straight forward, you know, all the basic information you would normally need.
But since she's going to a private school, it's going to cost money.
And not just SOME money, but a pretty penny, that's for sure.
So of course, we decided that we would apply for the scholarship program and see if we could get even just a little bit of help.
That's what any normal person would do, right?!
Well, we bring the application home.
It starts off really simple, with the parental information and such.
Then it gets into the money questions.
I was expecting the basics...how much did you make, attach a copy of your W2s, the simple stuff.
Nope!
It started asking me questions about different tax forms, how much we made on things i've never heard of before, if we have a profitable farm, what is the total if you subtract this line of your tax form from that line of your tax form, do you have a PA 40, blah blah blah.
I felt like i was reading Mandarin Chinese!
I don't know if it's because we have someone do our taxes for us, or just because we are dumb, but it was so hard to fill out that darn form!
We had to call the school to figure out what some of the things they were talking about were!
So i made sure to photocopy everything i filled out so that if there are any questions, i will have it in front of me to look at.
Holy moly, it made both our heads hurt!
It's no wonder some people just skip it and say "I'll pay it all out of pocket". Geesh!
But it's done now, and it's going in the mail in the morning (so i can look it over one last time to make sure it's right and i won't be getting it back to do over again).
Here's hoping we did it right...
And that, people, is why i will never home school my kids!! I can't even fill out the forms without help! HA!~
