Time...

I know it's been a while since i posted last, but nothing really exciting has been going on around here. I know, what with our super fantastic, exciting lives, how could nothing fun be happening...but it's true!
Saturday we went to Knoebels for the opening day. It wasn't nearly as crowded as it's been in years past on opening day, but the handstamp line was beyond ridiculous. It was buy one get one free day, so everyone and their brother was there. Needless to say, Mady will have to wait until another day to ride the rides. We met up with Sara (my very pregnant BFF) and Kevin (our very good friend), and we ate lots of food and talked and hung out for quite a while. After we left there, we made our way to our other friend's house for a cookout and mini party. Mady always has fun there, because there are other kids there, some even her age, and there are lots of new places for her to play/explore/hopefully not destroy.
I've still been doing my Insanity workouts. I'm on week 3 now. I'm definately seeing muscle difference, but i'm not seeing so much pound difference. So i've started trying to eat healthier, and less often. I know, those of you that know me know that this is going to be tough, real tough. I've been doing good so far though, even though i'm only on day 3 of eating better. Why do i have to love things that are bad for me so much?! And why does my husband have to make them for himself and eat them in front of me when he knows i'm trying to NOT eat them?! He really needs to go back to work.
I've also been stopping to see my Gram on the way home from work some nights. She is currently at the Nursing home on Trevorton Road, and they are working on getting her moved to the one in town here. Hopefully a room opens up soon. I always feel so depressed and sad when i go there. There are so many old people there that have pretty much just been dumped there. Their familes don't come visit, they don't send cards or flowers or pictures. It's so sad. They just sit in their beds and stare at the cold, stone walls. Most of them don't even turn on their tv's to see what's new in the world! It's so sad that things have to be like that. You would think someone would care enough to visit, or call, or send at least a card. And i know the nurses try their best to do their jobs right, but it's like they could care less! They don't come when you press the call bell, they treat the patients like children when they do finally come, and then they ignore them like pests when they are gone. I just hate it there, it's so bad. I can't wait until she gets out of there. The less i have to see other people ignoring their family, the better.

Thursday 13...

My Thursday Thirteen this week is pretty simple and to the point. It's all based around a simple word that i hear every day, several times a day. Why. So, my thursday thirteen this week is....

13 reasons why:
13. Because I want
12. Because I need
11. Because I have to have
10. Because I love
9. Because I like
8. Because I hate
7. Because it's free
6. Because it's expensive
5. Because cost is immaterial
4. Because it doesn't matter
3. Because it matters
2. Because it should matter
1. Just because

Picnic in the park...

So, to keep Frank from breaking anything else around the house, i dragged him out to the water company yesterday.

We packed up the car with a picnic lunch, and we brought the dogs. The 5 of us made our way to the water company for a brisk walk, and then a nice lunch at the picnic tables.
There was hardly anyone there, since it was a weekday, so it was very nice.

The dogs ran on their own, back and forth and back and forth. Frank, Mady and I followed behind.

Once we got to the picnic spot, we relaxed by the water and had lunch. It was pretty nice out, so that made it even better.

I'd say it was a good day :)

Not Mr. Fix-It, but Mr. Break-It...

Seriously, does anyone want my husband?! I'm not even selling him, i'm giving him away for free!

Last week, Frank got laid off from his job. It won't be long until he is called back to work...i hope. But while he's home, he HAS to have his hands doing something, and it's pretty much never good. He wants to do a million projects, which he starts and never finishes. He wants to buy all new everything, and i do mean everything. And he breaks things.

Today, he thought it would be a good idea to "chip away" ice from my little refridgerator. Now, the normal, sensable person would use hot water to melt it, or chip the top layer away little by little. Not my husband. He has to take a hammer and chisel and pound away at the freezer. Then, wouldn't you know it, he jams the chisel through the bottom of the freezer, leaking freon all over. Great! Thanks for breaking the mini fridge! Of course, now this will be a reason for him to go out and spend MORE money on a new one. Well, i have news for him...we aren't! I really think he thinks we have a money tree in the backyard. You would think that the spoiled part from his childhood would have worn off by now. Apparently not.

Seriously, does anyone want him?! Please, take him!!!!!!

Insanity, day 6...

Today was the 6th day of Insanity. Tomorrow is a rest day, so this is the last workout of the week. It was a re-do of the Plyometric Cardio Circuit we did on day 2.

I pushed myself even harder today than i did on tuesday, i could feel it. And man, was i tired!

I really hope this starts to work for me...the achy muscles should be going away soon, i think.

No run today though. Off to the hospital.

Thursday...err, Friday...13

I know, i know, i'm a day late again. I guess i'm just a busy woman, hahaha. Don't complain though, at least i'm doing it!

In no particular order, my Thursday Thirteen for this week is.......

13 Amish Spring Break Activities (because i see a horse and buggy everyday now on my way to work):
13. Trying to live out those fantasies of women without bonnets

12. Time to break out that secret stash of colored socks!

11. Though his name is Jebediah, for this week he'll be known as Jeb Daddy

10. Drinking molasses 'til you heave.

9. Wet bonnet contest.

8. Stuff as many guys as you can into a buggy.

7. Buttermilk kegger.

6. Blow past the Dairy Queen on a really bitchin' Clydesdale.

5. Get tattoo: "Born to Raise Barns."

4. Cruise streets of Ft. Lauderdale shouting insults at people with zippers.

3. Sleep in 'til 5 a.m.

2. Drive over to Mennonite country and kick ass.

1. Churning butter naked.

I guess i should be taking better care...

I was getting ready to leave for work today, and then i get the phone call.
It was my dad.
He said my gram was being taken to the hospital with chest pains.
He told me not to go right away, until we knew better what was going on, so i started off to work.
Then i got another call, that she was having a heart attack in the ambulance, and i should go right to the hospital.
So i went.
By the time i got there, she already had 2 stents puts in, and was on her way to recovery.
They got her settled in a room pretty quickly.
More quick than they did with my dad, at least.
All i could think, was that my both grandmothers and my father have had heart attacks.
Am i destined for one too?
They also checked my gram's "sores", and they think one may be cancerous.
We wont know until mid next week, as all the techs left for the weekend.
More info when it becomes available.
Please say a prayer for my gram.

Insanity, day 5...

Today was day 5, the pure cardio day.

And before you ask it, yes, i was alone again. Frank is still hurting. Now he's claiming "torn muscles"...really, it's just soreness from not exercising in, well, forever.

Pure cardio wasn't actually as bad as the other days have been. I know, it's weird. But i think my cardio is pretty good to begin with, so without the stretgth aspect of it, i'm pretty well off.

It was a non-stop workout, 20 minutes straight, go go go. Each exercise was 1 minute long, and you went from exercise to exercise without stopping. I mean, you could stop if you really wanted to, but they want you to keep going. And go i did. And boy oh boy did i feel the burn.

And a few hours later, i went for a 4 mile run, just to top off my day.

Today was a good day.

Insanity, day 4...

Well, it seems as if i've talked, or in this case blogged, too soon.

Today was day 4 of the Insanity workout, and it was the Cardio Recovery day. A day dedicated to stretching out sore muscles, and doing some yoga poses to help with strength and balance.

Frank did not join me today.

He could barely walk up and down the stairs.

But i did the workout alone, and he sat on the couch and drank coffee and ate toast with jelly.

I guess there's always tomorrow!

Insanity, day 3...

Today marked the 3rd day of my Insanity journey. To my surprise, Frank decided to join me again today. He just skipped over day 2 (lucky him), and joined me. I'm hoping he keeps it up, because it was really fun working out together.

Today was Cardio Power and Resistance day. I'm not going to say it wasn't as hard as yesterday's workout was, but it was a different kind of hard. We added arms into the workout today, and let me tell you, it burns! My arms are in dire need of a workout, so i'm hoping we get a few more in this week.

Good news though, Frank didn't puke today! He did pretty good actually, but he did stop more times than i did...hahaha!

Side B of Insanity...

Well, i didn't see it coming. I was totally shocked and blindsided.

That's right...

Frank did the Insanity Fit Test tonight...on his own, with no coersion from me what-so-ever! He just said to me, while i was starting dinner..."So i'm thinkin, what about that fit test".

So i got his sheet ready and i started it for him.

He had to take extra long breaks in between each exercise because, as he said, "I'm going to die!"

He finished, though.

And then he puked his guts out.

Let's see if he keeps it up tomorrow.

Insanity, day 2...

Today i did day 2 of the Insanity workout series. I knew it was going to be tough, but i wasn't expecting what i got.

I was a little bit achy before i began today, from yesterday's workout and the 4 mile run i did afterwards, but i powered on and pushed myself anyway.

It started out with the warm-up. This wasn't your average warm-up though. This was a circuit, that you repeated 3 times, each time going faster and harder than the time before. I was pretty much puffing and covered in sweat when i was done with the warm-up! And my "coach on the couch", Frank, says to me, "Wow, is that all there is to it?!"...to which i replied, "No, that was just the warm-up".

After a stretch, the workout itself began. The workout for today was Plyometric Cardio Circuit. It pretty much was 3 circuits of 4 exercises with a 30second break after each circuit. The first circuit, you learn the exercises and how to do them right, so you are working out at about a 5 of 10. The second circuit is supposed to be harder and faster, so you are at about a 8 of 10. The last circuit is supposed to be the hardest and fastest of all, and you are at about a 12 of 10. I was on the floor in some serious pain at times, i won't lie. There was even a minute where i thought, if this goes on for 10 more seconds, i'm going to puke!

After a tough workout, there was a cool down and stretch. It felt really good to stretch afterwards. It felt even better to sit down.

This workout is getting harder as the days go on. If only i could manage to eat right, i would look like a supermodel when i'm done with this!

Insanity...

So today, i've finally decided to take the plunge. I'm starting the Insanity workout. I've had it downloaded for about 2 weeks now, but i just couldn't get myself to start it. But i am now. Every day.

Today was day 1 of the 60 day program. It consisted of the Fit Test, that's all, nothing else. But let me tell you, it wasn't as easy as it sounds. The Fit Test is 8 exercises. You do each one for a full minute. In that minute, you're supposed to do as many of that particular exercise as you possibly can. You can rest if you need to, go slow, go fast, whatever you want. After each minute, you get a one minute rest to write down your results and catch your breath really quick. Then it's on to the next exercise. The Fit Test is to be repeated 4 more times over the 60 days, and you're supposed to see a marked improvement every time. For some of the exercises, i could really use an improvement!

I'm really excited to see if i get any good results from this program. According to the commercials, i should. But it's not like they're going to tell you it won't work for you on the commercials, then they wouldn't sell their product! I'll let you all know how it goes.

Our newest project, part 3 of 5...

I know what you're thinking, the title says part 3 of 5 and you have no idea where parts 1 and 2 got to. Well, we haven't done parts 1 or 2 yet. Let me explain.

We are fixing up our back porch for the summer. We are painting, refinishing, buying new things and putting it all together. Today, we had to skip right to step 3 (the purchasing of the new things step) because Frank is ridiculously impatient and couldn't wait until we did parts 1 and 2 first. So off we went this morning. First we went to Selinsgrove to the mall. We looked around all the stores at the grills and patio furniture. Of course, i had to look for things for Mady too, but that's a whole other post. We didn't like anything at the mall, so we went to Target and Kohl's next. We liked things there, but we still wanted to look around. By we, i mean Frank of course. Then we left Selinsgrove and drove all the way to Bloomsburg to go to Lowe's and Home Depot. Of course, we went from Lowe's, to Home Depot, to Big Lots (where we ended up getting our patio furniture, the same set we were going to get at Lowe's, for cheaper), and then back to Lowe's. When all was said and done, we ended up buying a new carseat for the Yukon, a new table for out back, 4 new chairs for the table, and a new grill (which was way to expensive, but of course my spoiled brat husband had to have it his way).

I am so tired now, i just want to crawl into bed and sleep for days...but of course Mady slept the whole way home so she is wide awake and wanting to play.

Stay tuned for the other parts of our re-finish, and of course pictures to accompany.

Unbelievable...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20100331/ts_csm/291560

I am in total shock and awe at this story. How can people call themselves Christian?! They give people a bad name.

I am all for freedom of speech. Do whatever you want in your own town, in your own building, to people that WANT to hear it. Leave innocent people alone!

This was a marine. He died fighting for our country, for our freedom! Isn't that the worst irony here?

He wasn't gay, he wasn't an extremist by any means. He was just a kid, who was a marine, that died.

His parents just wanted to bury their child. In their own town, in their own church, with just family and friends. They didn't make a production of anything, nor did they want to.

Then these "people" show up, and you can hardly call them that for what they did. They were picketing, holding up signs that said "God hates America" and "You will burn in hell". They yelled hate slurs and horrible things at the church and the people going in to it.

How can people live with themselves?

"For there shall be many, who will say, Lord, Lord, i did this for you, in your name...and i will tell them, get away from me, i never knew you!"
